How often should you bleed radiators and check boiler pressure?
Every fall. On a calendar: October.
Why it matters
Trapped air keeps hot water out of the top of a radiator โ the classic 'cold on top' symptom that wastes fuel all winter.
How to do it
With the system off and cool, open each radiator's bleed valve until water spits, then close it. Check the boiler gauge afterwards and top up to the green band if needed.
Signs you've waited too long
Radiators cold at the top while hot at the bottom, or gurgling pipes.
